"There is a garden in every childhood, an enchanted place where colors are brighter, air is softer, and the morning more fragrant than ever again." -Elizabeth Lawrence
My kids usually always have paint, dirt or food on their faces, clothes and in their hair. Their outfits are mismatched or they think every day is Halloween. They're making ridiculous faces or fighting with each other. They have skinned knees or grass stains all over their clothes. They're laughing hysterically and sometimes crying. And that is how they appear in almost all of the pictures I take of them. I enjoy honest pictures the most. This is who they are, why I love them, and how I'll always remember them.
Many parents are nervous to take their kids to get picturess taken. I frequently work with parents who are afraid that they'll never pose the way you ask them to or won't keep still for longer than two seconds. But this is why kids are my favorite people to document. They make it so easy, because the world and everything in it is still so interesting and new to them. They wander around and explore, while I follow and capture all of the excitement of their discoveries. Your kids only get one childhood; make it count.
