Dustin & Sam's Riverside Resort Wedding
For a few unique reasons, Dustin and Sam's wedding was so exciting and fun for me! Dustin is the best friend of my younger brother, Billy. In our family, friends like this are considered part of the family. Once Dustin asked me to work their wedding, I was ecstatic because I knew just what I was in for:) These guys really know how to have a good time. Not only that, but this group of people consists of some of the most hardworking, genuinely kind people that you could hope to meet. Another awesome factor here is that my brother was the Best Man and a cousin of mine was a groomsman. I hadn't met the other groomsman and bridesmaids before, but it didn't take long for me to feel like I'd already known them for a few years.
This wedding took place in late October at the lovely Riverside Resort in Spring Green, Wi. I had never been to this venue before, but I was an instant fan. Gorgeous reception hall and tavern overlooking the Wisconsin River, with cabins and camping areas along the river as well. I arrived early and managed to get some shots of the guys goofing around with their trucks as the girls continued to get ready.
The reception was a memorable experience, to say the least! Most of the time I leave weddings around 8 or 9pm since my 8 hours are usually up by then. But every once in awhile, I'm lucky enough to be able to capture a good portion of the reception too. It's generally during this time that I'm able to produce the more candid, fun pictures. After my time 'on the job' was finished, I still managed to get some pretty ridiculous shots of this rowdy party. What photographer puts their camera down while they're having a good time, anyway? This reception had it all....great food, drinks that never ran out, a dance floor that was always full, wigs, a random stranger dressed as a dog (great to meet you, Wilfred. I'm a fan of your television show).... My kids even stopped in for a few dances and cupcakes.
Dustin and Sam, thank you so so so much for having me:) Your wedding was a special one for me, and I was able to take some really great memories with me. Here are some of them:
Now this is a smart groom. He paid off the flower girl and ring bearer with candy as soon as they made it down the aisle. These guys don't even have kids yet and they already know how it works.
This would be my brother and I. It appears that he was probably having a pretty good time. :)
